BM Italia general contractor for Kanto Sushi Restaurant in Colico
Archilovers as Best Project 2019
BM Italia general contractor for Kanto sushi restaurant in Colico awarded by Archilovers as Best Project 2019.
BM Italia realised all the custom-made furnishings and accessories with the executive design of the project by designer Fabio Gianoli, who was able to interpret the client's requirements in the best possible way. BM Italia also realised all the scenographic elements, creating a unique environment.
Designer Fabio Gianoli talks about the Kanto Feling Experience project:
"Kanto is a Japanese restaurant located in Colico, on Lake Como, inside a classical building with a strange and light oriental flavour. This is the first time I am trying to imagine a Japanese restaurant, I have always been fascinated by their culture and style so I wanted to find the right way to give it a strong look that respects their philosophy. I wanted an orderly, symmetrical, rigorous design but at the same time with important details like their dishes that I had the opportunity to see and try. The building lent itself very well to this project: a regular floor plan which I wrapped in a scenographic perimeter cage made of iron tubes to which I added luminous shelves with sagging green plants and various oriental-style objects, all amplified by the mirrored wall coverings which give even more depth and breadth to the restaurant. The restaurant is divided into two levels. In both, the rooms revolve around a central core. On the ground floor there is the fully exposed bar and sushi preparation block located behind the reception area. On the first floor, on the other hand, the bar and sushi counter are located on the back wall, while the central block consists of a raised private area that is also screened by the perimeter cage. To access the upper floor you can use the internal lift or via the stairs, which are enriched on the perimeter by a full-height net curtain enclosing the entire space over 10 m high. While a wallpaper covers the lift block in the centre. The first-floor guest services are impressive, where the project's concept of symmetry is repeated, and where the hallway of the four toilets is centrally occupied by a double island washbasin in black metal surmounted by a four-sided suspended mirror."
